21.01—21.01.19 MIRY Lied: Ictus — KASK & Conservatorium New Year Concert MIRY Concertzaal concert
The Darker Than Black concert moves between the Renaissance and modern times, an ode to what was once called ‘black bile’, a kind of melancholy cocktail that made musicians smile as they played – and still does. The trio includes a clear voice with no vibrato, acoustic or electric guitar and Eva Reiter’s richly nuanced viola da gamba. Together they weave a sound tapestry of poisonously juicy miniatures: short, bittersweet melodies, ostinati à la Purcell, slow-motion pop songs and nighttime outpourings. Time sweetly disolves; the new year is here.
